Here are some instructions for setting up the Intranet in V5:
• Step 1
o Create a Front End Group via Group Administration in your Site Tools (Within Modules)
o Name the Group something that makes sense (ie. Employees, Employee Portal, Intranet, etc.)
o Put all of the intranet users into that group. It will be a front end group which is the last portion of the Add User Screen. Adding Users is located in the User Administration in your Site Tools (Within Modules)
o Note: Intranet Users are FRONT END users and will not need to be in a Back End Group. (Unless you want that specific individual to work on the back end of the site. Then it is okay.)
• Step 2
o Go to the Page you want to be an Intranet Page on the Front End of the Website
o Click LIVE EDIT
o Go to the Properties Tab
o Select Permissions within the Properties Tab
o Uncheck Guest (This removes public access, visibility, etc.)
o Check View next to the name of the Front End Intranet Group that you created
o Save and Push down ONLY if you want to make that page and all of it’s sub pages intranet pages as well.
o Save (Green Button) if you want to apply the permissions to ONLY that page.
o Note: If you are unable to remove the checkmark next to Guest because it is greyed out, you will need to go up to your Modules Menu and find Pages. After selecting Pages, go to the Permissions Tab at the top. Uncheck Guest. DO NOT SAVE AND PUSH DOWN. Just Save. Now start Step 2 again, you will now be able to remove the check mark next to guest on desired intranet pages.
• Step 3
o If you would like to create intranet categories within modules, go to the desired module. (FAQs, Calendar, etc)
o Go to the permissions tab at the top of the module screen. Remove the checkmark next to guest. DO NOT SAVE AND PUSH DOWN. Just Save.
o Go back to the Module. (Choose the Main Tab, or Choose the Module Name from the Modules Menu.)
o Create the new Category
o Remove Guest from the permissions within the category and select the name of the Front End Intranet Group you created in Step 1.
o Save and Publish. You may now create links to these categories or place widgets on your intranet pages in order to connect them for intranet viewing. The public will NOT be able to see anything. Only users that are members of the intranet group.
o Note: If a category already exists, you may access the properties by using the Action Drop Down to the right of the category name. Modules that have a green button require you to select the category name first, then Modify from the Action Drop Down. Modules that do not have a green button can be accessed by choosing Properties from the Action Drop Down. Permissions for categories must be accessed this way, not by using the Permissions tab at the top of the module. Permissions set in there will apply to all categories.
