WHEREAS, our volunteers demonstrate that it is possible to bring people together in response to our community's critical needs; and
WHEREAS, this year’s theme “Celebrating People in Action” honors individuals who take action and solve significant problems in their communities and

FURTHERMORE, I join with the citizens of this community in celebration and recognition of those who invest their time, talents and energy to reach out to others by volunteering and encourage all citizens to become involved in volunteer work.
NOW THEREFORE, I, Tim Walker by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the City of Boaz and on behalf of the Council do hereby proclaim the week of April 18 - 24, 2010 as National Volunteer Week in Boaz in honor of the many selfless volunteers throughout our community who truly give a helping hand. I urge all our citizens to continue to set an outstanding example for others to follow as they help renew and sustain the spirit and vitality of our great nation by committing a portion of their time to addressing the needs of our communities through volunteer action in our schools and other institutions.
