BOAZ vs. ALBERTVILLE EIGHTH
ANNUAL COMMUNITY BLOOD DRIVE
WHEREAS, Boaz and Albertville are again co-sponsoring a Life South Blood Drive as part of the long standing
rivalry between the two cities; and
WHEREAS, Friday, September 12, 2008 marks the sixty-fifth annual gridiron clash between the Boaz Pirates and
Albertville Aggies Football teams; and WHEREAS, the game between these two neighboring cities has been
a highly competitive game each year and this rivalry is being carried one step future to see which
city’s citizens will come out and give the most blood in the name of their team; and
WHEREAS, recognition and appreciation is extended to all the local merchants, restaurants, press, civic groups
and local citizens who helped make this blood drive a reality; and
WHEREAS, the winning team will be announced during the half time of the football game with the losing Mayor
presenting the trophy to the winning Mayor.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, TIM WALKER, MAYOR OF BOAZ, ALABAMA and I, CARL PRUETT, MAYOR OF ALBERTVILLE, ALABAMA do proclaim September 9, 2008 as
BOAZ vs. ALBERTVILLE EIGHTH ANNUAL COMMUNITY BLOOD DRIVE DAY
in Boaz and Albertville, and do encourage all our citizens to wear school colors and go to the Albertville
Neighborhood Center from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on September 9, 2008 and donate blood as part of the
United Way "Day of Caring" event and cheer for their team on Friday night.
In witness whereof, I, Tim Walker, Mayor of Boaz, and I, Carl Pruett, Mayor of Albertville, do hereunto set my
hand unto this proclamation this 4th day of September 2008.
