WHEREAS, the City of Boaz, Alabama, is rich in beauty and natural resources and wants to build a sustainable
city environment and earn a chance to win $5,000 to help our town; and
WHEREAS, every citizen can contribute to the protection and preservation of this beauty by his or her responsible
waste handling; and
WHEREAS, recycling 40 cans saves the equivalent of one gallon in gasoline and the energy saved by recycling one
ton
of aluminum could fuel a car that gets 35 mpg for 82,250 miles; and
WHEREAS, every citizen in the city limits of Boaz is challenged to save your aluminum cans and carry them to
any
city department for recycling the month of October 2008; and
WHEREAS, the City will carry these cans to a recycling center and these funds will be used for Downtown
Redevelopment and Beautification; and
WHEREAS, the City will future make application for a grant from the Cans for Cash City Recycling Challenge.
NOW THEREFORE, I, Tim Walker, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF BOAZ, on behalf of myself and the Council do
hereby proclaim the month of October 2008 as Cans for Cash month in Boaz and invite all citizens to work
together for this project.
