School Resource Officer (SRO)

Patrolmen Thomas Underwood, Kelly Springfield, and effective July 1, Walter Colbert, serve as the Boaz Police Department's School Resource Officers. The assignment centers on supporting the Boaz City School System in daily activities to include:

  • law enforcement officer
  • law-related counselor
  • law-related education teacher

Other key elements include the close relationship SROs must create and maintain with principals, teachers and staff and working closely as needed with parents, students, and members of the community.
