The implementation of this facility is a vast improvement from the facility where we previously housed inmates. ![]() Dispatcher recording officer locations The new Dispatch Control Center has been equipped with State of the Art Digital Communications Equipment. The Security of both sections of the facility has been improved for both Staff and Public Safety. Below, you will find pictures of the facility. A information and a description of each area is also provided. The Jail / Dispatch Division may be contacted by calling the Boaz Police Department at 256-593-6812 or 256-593-6842. Or you may contact the Jail Administrator by e-mail HERE. ![]() ![]() The new facility was integrated into the existing structure. The facility now fills what previously was our Patrol Vehicle storage and maintenance area. The inmate workers now clean the Patrol Vehicles inside the Sallyport area which can be seen in the center of the photo on the right. In the left-hand portion is the Dispatch and Visitation area. ![]() ![]() The facility has been implemented with a Video Visitation system. This prevents the possibility of visitors passing contraband to inmates housed inside the facility. The corridor pictured to the right leads to the booking, inmate worker, laundry and kitchen areas. This area is video monitored and is control accessed. ![]() ![]() Another major implementation into the facility is a holding area pictured to the left. This area allows the booking officer to minimize the number of arrestees in the actual booking area. This also allows new arrestees to contact bail bonding companies to arrange their bonds. Also in this area is our mouth alcohol testing area. It has basic video recording equipment to allow each officer to document the testing process. This area has an extra ventilation system to induce a better quality of air for testing purposes. ![]() ![]() The facility has allowed the use of other areas that were previously occupied. This has permitted us to have a more expansive food preparation / storage area. Another trip down the corridor leads to the actual housing area. Although the Male pod is larger, both Female and Male pods area equipped with the same furnishings. There are now many more beds. With the addition of the securely mounted tables the inmates now have a stable place to eat meals, as well as attend religious services. These improvements allow for more personal space, reduced conflicts, and greater security. ![]() ![]() Each housing area is equipped with a TV that is enclosed in the wall. The facility staff controls the functions of the TV such as what is viewed by the inmates. On the other end of the housing area is the personal hygiene area as well as the inmate phones. The phones are for collect, outgoing calls only. Their usage is also regulated by the staff. ![]() ![]() The personal hygiene area is a vast improvement over our previous accommodations. The shower, toilet and sinks are standard correctional facility equipment. All personal hygiene items: soap, shampoo, etc. are supplied by the Boaz Police Department. ![]() The facilities computer system was also updated. Each terminal allows staff to save work at one station and complete it from any of the other terminals. ![]() The facilities camera system can be accessed from any terminal. This permits staff the ability to monitor functions in the facility while completing other tasks.
The facility now has a Rec. Yard area. Each housing pod has access to this area at different times.
The Emergency generator and outside storage area are now contained within the secure area also. There are other pictures of the facility that better represent the lay out of the design system.
