I am proud to serve as Mayor of Boaz, and look forward to continuing the success our town has achieved for 100+ years. Boaz is The City of Possibilities.

Mayor Walker's Bio

Tim Walker is a lifelong resident of Boaz, Alabama attending public schools in Boaz for 12 years and then two years of Jr. College at Snead State Community College before attending both the University of Alabama and U. A. H. where he received a degree in Business Administration specializing in Marketing.  Upon completion of college he had an opportunity to come back to Boaz with the growth of the Vanity Fair Factory Outlet.  After three years with Vanity Fair he opened his own business in retail clothing.  Tim operated this business along with a small deli until being elected as mayor of Boaz in 2000.  He sold his businesses and now devotes full time to the mayor’s position in Boaz where he is serving his fourth term.

Tim is married to the former Michelle Gunter, and they have a son named Zeb.  Tim serves on many boards including the Child Advocacy Board, Marshall County Economic Development Council, Boaz Water and Sewer Board, Boaz Gas Board, and the Marshall County Executive Advisory Council.  Tim  participated in the Leadership Alabama program in 2005 which was a great honor.

Since being mayor, Tim has used his marketing skills to bring Boaz back into the spot light as a shopping destination with stores such as Super Wal-Mart, Wal-Greens, Fred's, Tractor Supply along with many others.  He has also used his skills to bring in new industry such as Alatrade and Pinnacle Manufacturing.

Tim is an "on hands" person.  It is not surprising to see him riding on a spreader putting down asphalt on a street, picking up litter for several hours, planting trees, being at a fire site at 2 a.m. in the morning, going out to be a storm spotter when the city is under a tornado warning, cutting up fallen trees during a storm, or reading a book to a class of children.  He believes that education is one of our most important responsibilities and takes it very seriously.
