Assistant Chief Phillip Wright started his firefighting career with the Boaz Fire Department in 1970. He later transferred to the Boaz Police Department in 1972. In April of 1973 he attended the third Police Academy held at Jacksonville State University. Later in 1973 he was employed by the City of Albertville Police Department. He left the City of Albertville in 1976 and went into the car business with his father.

In 1978 he became a P.O.C. firefighter with the Boaz Fire Department, and in 1984 he returned to the Boaz Fire Department as a full-time Firefighter. Since his return he has acquired many certifications and promotions. He has obtained his Firefighter I certification as well as Firefighter II, Fire Instructor I, Hazardous Materials Technician, and EMT Intermediate License. Chief Wright is a certified National Incident Management System (NIMS) Trainer. Over the years he has moved up in the ranks of the department. In July of 2000 he was promoted to his current position as Assistant Chief. Assistant Chief Wright also serves as the Fire Department Chaplin. Assistant Chief Wright was awarded the City of Boaz Community Civitans Firefighter of the year in 1985/1986.

Chief  Wright lives in Boaz with his wife Linda. They have one Son Jason who is a P.O.C. Firefighter with the Boaz Fire Department. Phillip also enjoys Golfing, Fishing, and spending time with his family.
