On July 1st. Boaz Fire & Rescue
acquired a new HURST Tool spreader unit for extrication
of patients from vehicle accidents. This unit will be placed on
Rescue 1. This is a vital tool when patients are trapped inside
a vehicle. This
tool replaces the previous tool which has been in service since
May 1982. The new spreader unit is a HURST Transformer which
features 32" aluminum alloy arms. This highly flexible tool will
pry, bend, and lift with power to spare. The Spreader has 31,500
lbs. of spreading force, 16,500 lbs. of pulling force, and
weighs only 59 lbs. The old unit will be placed on Engine 8 and
can be used in the event of multiple extrication situations. |
